REMEMBER | HONOR | TEACH
In 2016, when Texas State Cemetery (TSC), was added as a Wreaths Across America (WAA)-participating, we were delighted to have Governor and Mrs. Abbott join us for the inaugural WAA ceremony and wreath placements on veteran graves. His remarks to the volunteers gathered truly captured the patriotic mission of WAA:
“We're called on today and every day to remember our fallen heroes.
We must remember their names, we must remember their lives and we must remember their sacrifice, because we are each entrusted with their legacy of faith in this great nation. May we always remember our troops in harm’s way still today, and may we never forget the price they pay so that we can be free.”
Following the ceremony in 2017, Gov. and Mrs. Abbott laid wreaths at the graves of the 6 Medal of Honor recipients. Then, over 400 volunteers joined them in placing wreaths on 100% of the remaining 2,480 Veteran graves and 200 prominent Texans buried there. They said the names of each hero aloud, as they placed each wreath, to ensure that they didn't die twice last Christmas season.
Join us this December 18, 2021, as we once again REMEMBER all veterans, those from times of peace and from times of war, by “saying their names” as their graves are remembered with a wreath for the Christmas season. These veterans served to protect
the freedoms we have today - many in harsh conditions and with someone shooting at them!
This year we hope to be able to place wreaths on 100% of the 3,060 graves at Texas State Cemetery. What's 60 minutes out of the Christmas season, compared to our veterans’ years of service in locations far from home?

Wreaths Across America receives no government funding to support our mission. Each wreath is sponsored by individuals, organizations, or businesses. Each $15 tax-deductible sponsorship places one wreath on a veteran's grave.
